Economy of the Future

I wanted to share a couple of blogs I follow:

New Rules for the New Economy, latest post

The last one there is especially interesting. The author wrote a book in 1998 predicting the move towards network economy we’re experiencing now.

It’s all coming true. Maybe the old economy will die and we’ll still be kind of alright. We’ll just sell ebooks, stocks and advice to each other and make a living that way. Corporations will for the most part take care of growing GMO and cloned food and building cardboard homes.

Meant as a joke, I’m not sad, depressed or anything. Maybe just a little tired.

The Expanding Work Week

Americans now work approximately eight weeks1 longer per year than in 1969 – in the space of a single generation – for roughly the same income after adjusting for inflation. The new standard workweek is 70 hours2 and the growth rate is increasing.

The Rumor Mill Re: Unemployment in the U.S. $$

I talked to a founder of a staffing firm this morning. They work in 10 U.S. cities and across Canada. He said that as far as the U.S. is concerned, things are still slow in Florida and the South but are picking up in the Mid-West, North-East and the West.

Week of October 26 – November 1, 2009 $$

I’m planning to move my site to a new server soon, will also change the layout. Right now I’m not motivated to update much because 1) I’m busy but will get over that; 2) I no longer like how the information is presented here.
